we took a quick trip to Providence last weekend for Jeff’s work. we scarfed down delicious vegan sandwiches at nice slice (the pizza looked amazing too), wandered the streets and enjoyed the pleasant weather, explored the RISD museum of art (so beautifully curated!), sat for a few hours at cafe choklad with a soy chai, and then booked it out of there to avoid traffic, with some falafel from east side pockets in hand. i have loved dark grey homes with bright yellow doors for quite a while now. it’s nice to see it in action at this providence residence and so well executed. just the right shades complimented by the lovely classic home. i definitely want to return to the RISD museum of art. it was so nice.

[you also get a sneak peek of our “little” home… sometimes affectionately called our studio, but in reality known as the room we are living in – and transforming – at my parents’ house this year. more on that later.}

this adorable valentine’s-themed decoration – inspired by this tutorial, and featured on one of my favorite blogs by the talented Ashley Ann – marks my first time using a sewing machine! i enlisted the expertise of our dear friend Sheila, who was the woman behind our birthday bread-making lessons, to help me sew the delicate paper hearts. i think next year i will add more strands, as well as take on a few other DIY projects that i have in my queue. (i actually have a folder just for valentine’s day-related ideas. is that crazy?)
thanks Sheila for your help! these hearts were so fun to make with you.
